EL NIDO, May 2004

After only a few days in Manila getting visa extentions sorted we flew straight over to El Nido in Northern Palawan. Keen to get out of Manila, it wasn't as rough as we'd imagined...
the immigration office was in one of the posher parts of town but the buildings around it were heaps of rubble with the facades still standing, a lot of this damaged was from WWII... but still waiting for renovation.

Went to the Santiago Fort that's one of the 'sights'...more bomb damage... as an historical reminder it was poignant but as the city's major tourist site it seemed pretty desperate....

Then on to El Nido on Palawan Island ... to chill and ... chill ... and down to Port Barton and Puerto Princesa .. before going to Bohol via Bohol ..
